Our Preschool Ministry is for children who are at least three years of age and potty-trained by September 1, up to age 5. Our classes are staffed by church members who volunteer for at least one quarter, though many volunteer for the entire school year or the entire summer. We have a "2 adults per room" policy to help protect our covenant children. We also use a security tag system for our preschool classes.
Each preschool class meets at 9:30 am and 10:30 am. This enables parents to attend both a worship service and adult community groups. Here's what we are doing in preschool this year:
Lil' K is an interactive multimedia-based curriculum for preschool children ages 3-5. The teaching video features Lil' K, and host, Kai, on a journey of discovery as they explore the Bible lesson objective for the day. Kids learn how the Doodad of the Day relates to the objective and how they can live out God's Word. There are keys to find, chests to open, and the silly and wise Professor Sock, who helps decode the mystery of each lesson's Bible Story cartoon. There is also music and a Bible memory verse in every video lesson.
After the DVD portion of the program there are group activities and a craft to round out the lesson. Children receive the take home MAP Book so they can show their parents what they learned. This application based review of the Bible Story and lesson is delivered through fun learning activities designed to stimulate parental involvement and help build early spiritual formation.
